Super Bowl I
Chimes (Variations on the NBC Theme)

We found it  - and it's yours to own - the only known sound recording of the opening of Super Bowl I. It's cut # 12 on this CD. Sportscaster, Curt Gowdy, is the announcer. The marching band version of Chimes, long-time NBC network sports theme, is heard in the background. The date was January 15, 1967. Until this recording of Super Bowl I (not called that in those days) was found, the New York Times listed it as among broadcasting's lost treasures. It was made available to us by noted broadcaster, Tom Foty, who had recorded it off the air for his private use. He has since presented a copy of the entire Super Bowl I broadcast to the Museum of Radio and Television Arts and Sciences.

Besides the Super Bowl I bonus cut, the eleven other variation cuts on this CD include the original Chimes Theme; March; Christmas Time Chimes; Fox Trot (2-beat); Rhumba; Hurdy Gurdy (2-beat); Tango; Pizzicato; Waltz; Dreamy-lush; Billboard (2-beat). The variations were arranged and conducted by maestro and co-writer, Al D'Artega, now deceased.

This commemorative, digitally re-mastered CD temporarily will be printed on an on-demand basis. Please allow two weeks delivery time.
