The Living Strings, Bobby Vinton, Kate Smith, Eddie Fisher, Jim Nabors are among the many artists who have recorded this Christmas standard. Veterans, especially, will remember this song which has been dubbed by American Forces Radio over the years as "The GI Christmas Song". First recorded in 1951 by country singer, Roy Stevens, it was followed by then Pfc Eddie Fisher's special recording for AFN, the Armed Forces Network in Europe. The song caught on like wild fire with our troops and was heard by "Miss God Bless America" herself, Kate Smith, who later introduced her RCA recording on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show during the Vietnam War. To date, some 17 artists have recorded "Christmas Eve In My Home Town", and for the first time, besides this sheet music, a CD commemorating the half century anniversary celebration of Pfc Eddie Fisher's AFN recording is now available to you. Visit the Bing Crosby and Kate Smith clip in the Videos section.
